Yoshimitsu - Tekken 3 (Fan Art)
A Game-ready real time character project.
Yoshimitsu has always struck me as one of the most memorable character designs since my childhood playing Tekken 3 on the original PlayStation. I wanted to challenge myself to reimagine his most iconic Tekken 3 costume using today’s advanced 3D modeling/texturing/rendering software. Original design is by Aya Takemura - Bandai Namco.
This project allowed me to exercise and display multiple interesting aspects of creating a character model. These unique aspects include: modeling actual muscle anatomy, creating semi-hard surface objects in Zbrush, utilizing opacity and emissive maps, Marvelous cloth simulations with decals that follow the folds, organizing ID maps, baking by suffix, designing low-res topology for a variety of shapes, and more. I would like to thank Aaron Colman-Hayes https://www.artstation.com/achayes for his very intentional and focused feedback and for his availability throughout the Intermediate term at Think Tank Training. I would not have been able to push my projects and myself to where they are now without him, the Think Tank videos, and our supportive cohort on Discord.
I am happy to know this is coming out just in time for Tekken's 30th Anniversary!
