Very proud and excited to share my Foundation Final at Think Tank Training Centre! We were tasked to recreate an existing 2D art piece of our choice in 3D within 5 weeks.
The decision to do this piece was inspired by a character that I played in Dungeons and Dragons for a very long time. The project is based on the work of the incredible fantasy artist Jesper Ejsing (https://www.artstation.com/ejsing) (https://jesperejsing.com) who is responsible for some great MTG and D&D art.
I did not know I could do this 3 months ago, but with the help of resources from Think Tank, my supervisor Rudy Wijaya, and the assistance/encouragement of a supportive student cohort, I was able to surpass my perceived limits.
While I have 3+ years of modeling experience from an architectural standpoint, this is my first foray into dealing with elements for creating character art (texturing skin, modeling body parts, etc). It is also my first time using Maya and the workflows surrounding it.
Eager to see what else lies in the journey ahead as I pursue life in the CG industry.
On May 27th, 2024, this work received the "Excellence Award" from The Rookies:
