Iād like to share my take on our realistic skin texturing project. I invite you to ZOOM IN š. Look at those pores.
We were tasked to develop a Diffuse Map, Displacement Map, and all secondary maps necessary including SSS texture masks and multiple levels of Roughness, to achieve a believable realistic face texture. Yes, I even did the veins and moles. This was all part of a tutorial we all followed for our character modeling class at Think Tank. This exercise definitely feels like a level up from a similar skin texturing workflow I used for my Gnome project.
The head and hair models were provided by @thinktanktraining (my scope was ONLY texturing of the skin)
